Modifications Capability and Experience:
Recon Air is a recognized installation center for parts and kits manufactured by Sealand Aviation. Sealand manufactures and sells Cabin Extension Kits and the large cargo door kits (Alaska Doors) for the DeHavilland Beaver. The kits are well constructed and relatively easy to install. They are designed to fit easily on each individual aircraft. Both the Cabin Extension Kit and the Alaska Door are very popular options for the Beaver. Our products include:
The Cabin Extension Kit
The Cabin is extended by the removal of the bulkhead between the passenger and the cargo compartments. Two large windows on each side increase visibility. A new baggage door, a replacement hammock seat tube, one-piece Kydex molded panelling around the windows, built-in First-Aid Kits, a cargo net, and original-type flooring are all included.
The Alaska Door The Alaska Door comes as an option to the Cabin Extension Kit and includes all the Kit components. This popular modification speeds up general cargo handling and allows the loading of bulky items like ATV's, Skidoos and stretchers. The two doors can be opened together for full access, or the aft door can be opened independently so that the rear seat passengers remain undisturbed.
Hot Tips Wing Tip Tanks
(These tanks are presently certified on a LSTC. Soon to be STC'd)
These are a direct "bolt on" replacement for the original tip tank, with a Hoerner-style wing tip fairing. The tank is aluminum and the wing tip fairing is composite. Locking gas caps made of anodized aluminum are standard equipment. The nav/strobe light assembly is an optional accessory. The change in shape in the wing tip increases performance.
Stainless Steel Elevator Trim Tab Push Rods
The original DeHavilland push rod doesn't stand up well in a salt-water environment. Our replacement is all 316 stainless steel, including the Teflon-lined rod ends. If you need a replacement, whether you operate in salt or fresh water, this is the best way to go.
Door Post Strut Assemblies
Our SAL 9000 strut is an approved replacement for the C2FS3281A and C2FS3282A front strut. After welding, the struts are cadmium plated, powder coated, and treated internally with an anti-corrosion compound. Drain holes are incorporated so water cannot accumulate inside. This is the best front fuselage strut on the market.
