Operator Profile Hawk Air Near Wawa Northern Ontario Hawk Air, Wawa, Northern Ontario. Hawk Air operates three float planes, a Cessna 180, Beaver and a recently purchased Vazar Turbine Conversion for their existing Dehavilland Otter. Hawk currently runs 22 outpost camps on 21 remote lakes, where they say they fishing is abundant and the wildlife is fantastic. Matti & Courtney Manttari own and run Hawk Air and have done so successfully for many years. Their decision to purchase the Vazar Turbine Engine Conversion kit was based on a need for more reliability and with the conversion kit, Hawk Air purchased a "Gross Up Kit" so they could increase loads. They are happy with the conversion and report that their pilots, one with turbine experience and one without, had no difficulty switching from the piston version of their aircraft to the new turbine version. 2006 is the first season of operation for the aircraft and its introduction to their business has been a success. The Hawk Air Turbine Otter in being used on a daily basis to service their 22 remote fly-in fishing camps located within about 20 minutes of their base and for charter to local lodges and private camps. The turbine otter is pressed into service to haul fishermen, lumber, fuel and general supplies to countless remote locations around Hawk Junction. Hawk Junction is about twenty minutes from Wawa Ontario.
